The I Can Early Years curriculum enables teachers to look at what a ‘typical’ child might know, do and understand at 2 years old, in nursery and reception. The curriculum provides teachers with statements which allow a common language between reception teachers all the way through to year 6 when talking about and tracking children’s progress towards end of year requirements.

The document has been developed to support teachers in enabling a child to reach a typical level of development, assess the rate of learning and development and plan the next steps.
