Martin is an experienced and successful Headteacher of four primary schools and a Deputy Headteacher in two other schools. Martin is also a successful teacher and subject leader in areas including maths and IT and has led schools successfully through a significant number of Ofsted inspections. We are excited to welcome Martin to QED as an Early Years and Primary Education Consultant!

In addition to Martin’s ‘in school’ success he was previously an Her Majesty’s Inspector of Education (HMI). This position involved inspecting a wide range of primary and special schools and supporting schools who were judged inadequate.

Martin has also previously operated as a Local Authority School Improvement Advisor for Cheshire West and Chester, supporting a wide range of primary schools.

Martin is an advocate for those pupils who may be seen as disadvantaged with all his headships having been in areas of high socio and economic stress. He also has a strong knowledge of special educational needs having led two schools with specialist resource provisions (complex and moderate learning difficulties and social, emotional and mental health difficulties).

In addition to Martin’s impressive resume he also has a track record of rapid school improvement including leading two schools in Cheshire, previously categorised as schools causing concern, to subsequently be judged as good. He can deliver training and consultancy in: Leadership, Strategic Planning, School reviews, Curriculum Development, Assessment and Supporting Self-evaluation.
