A realistic but strategically challenging approach to performance management.
This service includes all preparation, review of previous targets and success, advice to the governing board and the setting of targets for the coming academic year. Proformas for review of Teachers and Headteachers Standards can be provided as can proformas to record the process. The process is supportive but rigorous and focuses on outcomes for children, the wellbeing of the headteacher and staff and the sustainability of improvements. We can, or course, be flexible in the delivery to meet the needs of the governing board and headteacher.
The Quality of Education Review
Is your curriculum and pedagogy effective enough?
A ‘Quality of education’ review enables you to consider the impact of the curriculum on the children. There are a number of elements to this service. A review of the self-evaluation and development planning would be the starting point. Discussions with leaders at all levels, teachers and children enables us to get to the bottom of the learning taking place. Scrutiny of curriculum and assessment documentation also contributes to the process as does visits to lessons and scrutiny of books.
Curriculum Evaluation and Development
A detailed and thorough review leading to action planning
Does your curriculum do what you think it is doing? What is your curriculum rationale? What is the intent (content) and why? What is the context of the children and how do you take account of this to build your curriculum? How is the curriculum being implemented? What is the impact upon the children? Can you answer all these questions? If not, maybe a curriculum review would support the process and enable you to plan for future developments. Get in touch.
Early Years Review and Improvement
How ambitious and well sequenced is your approach for the youngest children?
Early years is the foundation of a child’s education. It has to be right. A review would look at practice, knowledge, improvements, paperwork and would also explore the quality of the curriculum in early years. Is learning sequential and are knowledge and skills accumulated well? What do staff know about the development of memory and what is the significance of play? This service would leave you with a written report and recommendations to enable you to further improve early years.

Middle leaders can require mentoring and coaching and this can be built in to any package.

Support can involve coaching and mentoring and QED will be available to offer advice by email and telephone to ensure you have a point of contact at all times. Our focus is enabling leaders to recognize and nurture talent, to be positive and optimistic and to lead with authenticity and integrity.
Subject Leader Development
Quickly improve the impact of subject leaders.
Subject leaders are at the heart of all curriculum delivery in school. The main questions for subject leaders are; can leaders articulate their curriculum rationale, are they clear about the intent of their particular subject and can they identify what is being taught when and why? Do they know how the curriculum is implemented and why? Do they know enough about the impact of the curriculum on children and do their action plans reflect ongoing development? For some subject leaders, this is a fairly new responsibility and they can require training, support and development activities.
